You Are Not an Accident

You are who you are for a reason.
You're part of an intricate plan.
You're a precious and perfect unique design,
Called God's special woman or man.

You look like you look for a reason.
Our God made no mistake.
He knit you together within the womb,
You're just what he wanted to make.

The parents you had were the ones he chose,
And no matter how you may feel,
They were custom-designed with God's plan in mind,
And they bear the Master's seal.

No that trauma you faced was not easy.
And God wept that it hurt you so;
But it was allowed to shape your heart
So that into his likeness you'd grow.

You are who you are for a reason,
You've been formed by the Master's rod.
You are who you are, beloved,
Because there is a God!

  1. I love this poem because it touches aspects in my life that I can relate to. "The parents you had were the ones he chose," touches me because I am adopted and over the years I've always wondered about my real parents, but have realized that the good Lord placed me right where he wanted me. Plus the part about the accident. That really touches me because Everyday I think about a bad accident that I was in and it helps me cope with this incident.

  2. I believe there is a god, and I do believe that he has created each and every one of us for a reason. I like this poem, for I use to think I was an accident brought into this world for no reason. When I was young I always wondered why my sister was raising me and not my mom. God, knew I was better being raised by my sister than mom.
